Our quilt show next year is titled “Peace by Piece” and our selected charity is America Vet Dogs. We thought it would be very fitting if we all made star blocks that will be used to create quilts for veterans. Hopefully the pieced quilts we make will give peace to a veteran!
Here are the instructions to make a block for a veteran:
You can only use red, white and blue fabrics. Solids are nice but a tonal print works just as well and gives the quilt personality. Cotton fabrics only please.
NO military service branch specific!! No Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy or Marines; it would make it difficult for distribution purposes.
The block can be pieced or applique.
Select any star block you like.
The block MUST measure 12½” when you hand it in!
Bring the block to a general guild meeting.
Make more than one block, like one each month?!
These blocks will be used to make large lap quilts by the membership before and during the quilt show. The Works-In-Progress room will be busy working on these during the show. Any quilts that are done before the show will be put on display during the show.
Let’s see how many we can get done! Make some blocks and volunteer to sew a top together, quilt a quilt and sew the binding on!
Any question- Barbara Arnold 631-645-6728 or Joyce Auston 631-294-5819
RETURN ALL BLOCKS MADE TO BARBARA ARNOLD OR JOYCE AUSTIN DURING GENERAL MEETINGS. THANK YOU!
